Beignets

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Buttermilk, lukewarm
  • 1⁄2 cup Sugar
  • 1 Pkg Yeast, active dry
  • 4 cup Flour
  • 1⁄2 cup Butter, melted
  • 1⁄2 tsp Salt
  • 6 cup Oil, canola
  • 1 cup Sugar, powdered

Directions

  1. Add the milk, sugar and yeast to the mixing bowl and wait for yeast to foam. Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture and whisk until incorporated. Slowly add the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours. Remove from the refrigerator and roll out into a 1⁄4 inch sheet. Cut 2 inch squares and fry until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar, eat immediately!
